How to Make Caramelized Onion Greek Yogurt Frittata:
A Delicious and Nutritious Twist on a Classic Breakfast Staple.
Are you tired of the same old breakfast (or dinner) routine? Look no further than this Greek Yogurt Frittata, elevated with sweet and savory caramelized onions. This Italian-inspired breakfast or brunch option is a must-try for anyone looking to add some health benefits to breakfast!
Greek yogurt is a nutritional powerhouse, high in protein, calcium, and probiotics. The protein helps to keep you full and satisfied until lunchtime, while the probiotics promote a healthy gut. Furthermore, with the addition of eggs, you’ll get an extra boost of protein and essential vitamins and minerals!
Don’t rush the onions!
The key to a great Greek Yogurt Frittata is the slow-cooked onions, which add a depth of flavor that’s hard to replicate with other ingredients. By cooking the onions for 30–40 minutes, you’ll bring out their natural sweetness and create a delicious base for the rest of the dish. And with the addition of Greek yogurt, you’ll add a tangy and creamy element that complements the eggs perfectly.
But what really sets the Greek Yogurt Frittata apart is its versatility. Have some leftover asparagus? Throw it in! Roast up some red bell peppers and add a smokey bite to the frittata. Mushrooms are another go-to, we use a frittata like a soup and add any veggies that are nearing their end.
So why settle for a boring old omelette or scrambled eggs when you can try something new and exciting? The Greek Yogurt Frittata is a delicious and satisfying breakfast option that’s perfect for a special occasion or just a regular Tuesday morning (if you prepare the onions beforehand!) And, with its impressive presentation and flavorful ingredients, it’s certain to impress your family and friends.
Out with the pre-shredded cheese.
There is almost never a time to use pre-shredded cheese, why, you ask? The cheese is coated with a starch to prevent clumping, which changes how it acts in cooking. It might break a sauce, or clump up in your mac and cheese, skip the headache and buy the block! Then, break out the cheese grater (I like the rotary style) and tada! You have wonderful shredded cheese with no starch.
To make the Greek Yogurt Frittata, simply whisk together eggs, Greek yogurt, and a pinch of salt and pepper then pour over the caramelized onions. Then, add some shredded cheese and fresh herbs for extra flavor, and you’re good to go! It’s a simple yet impressive dish that’s sure to become a new favorite.
